When there is no hiding … from the enemy within

A series of bizarre incidents at the Roman Forum shocks the city’s political elite. The police report finding the victims drugged, bloodied, and dressed in party togas. None can recall what happened, and forensics reveal no injuries – no signs of physical or sexual assault.

Then a video surfaces: a grotesque orgy featuring the victims and their politician partners; and, with the Mayoral elections looming, disgraced candidates withdraw from the race, leaving Deputy Mayor Gaetana Ragallo as the sole credible contender.

When police discover Teresa Conti battered and left for dead at Pompey’s Theatre, they arrest her ex-lover –Detective Luca Meroni, and Chief Inspector Gambarella takes control of the investigation.

Then one of the original victims is murdered – and once again Meroni is the prime suspect.

With no allies left and time running out, Meroni must navigate a twisted web of political ambition, manipulation, and personal betrayal. 

To finally clear his name, Meroni will need to confront the enemy that lurks within and the ghosts that have never stopped hunting him.
